In a rights issue, arrangement by which shareholders are given the right to apply for any shares that are not taken up.
Oversubscribed issue
Investors are not able to buy all of the shares or bonds they want, so underwriters must allocate the shares or bonds among investors. This occurs when a new issue is underpriced or in great demand because of growth prospects.

Statistical technique for distinguishing between two groups on the basis of their observed characteristics.
Discretionary trust
Discretionary trusts are one of the most flexible trust funds. Once the assets are transferred to the trust fund, the transferor no longer have legal rights to, or ownership of, them. However, the transferor can maintain control by appointing the trustee. The capital the transferor puts into the trust stays there until the time stipulated by the transferor for funds to be paid out or until such time as the trustees decide to do so.
Oversubscription
An oversubscription of shares on an IPO means that there was much more demand than supply of shares on an initial offering.
Undersubscribed
Having received fewer offers to buy than there are securities available for sale.
Escrow
An item of value, money, or documents deposited with a third party to be delivered upon the fulfillment of a condition. For example, the deposit by a borrower with the lender of funds to pay taxes and insurance premiums when they become due, or the deposit of funds or documents with an attorney or escrow agent to be disbursed upon the closing of a sale of real estate.
Discretionary Trust
A grantor trust in which the trustee has complete discretion as to who among the class of beneficiaries receives income and/or principal distributions. There are no limits upon the trustee or it would cease to be a discretionary trust. The letter of wishes could provide some guidance to the trustee without having any legal and binding effects. Provides flexibility to the trustee and the utmost privacy.
Discretionary Account
An arrangement by which the holder of an account gives written power of attorney to someone else, often a broker, to buy and sell without prior approval of the holder; often referred to as a "managed account" or "controlled account".
Price discrimination
Price discrimination occurs whenever a firm charges differential prices across customers that are not related to differences in production and distribution costs. Thus, discriminating firms seek to exploit the perceived consumer surplus and maximize producer surplus.
